The Government’s priority is to ensure that vulnerable children who are eligible to come here are safeguarded and have their welfare promoted as soon as they arrive in our country. The Government has provided advice and guidance to local authorities, through the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, to make sure that this happens.
To this end, the Government will publish the strategy that outlines further detail on the safeguarding and welfare of vulnerable children by 1 May 2017. This will build on existing strategy while also recognising the increased numbers of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and refugee children in the UK.
